Terms of service
These terms are an agreement between you and SplitPe ("we", "us"), which operates SplitPe on Android, iOS and the web at web.splitpe.app. By creating an account or using SplitPe you accept them. If you don't, please don't use the app. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
Who can use SplitPe
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract under Indian law.
- Give accurate information, keep your sign-in secure, and use one account per person. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
What SplitPe is, and isn't
SplitPe is a record-keeping tool that helps friends keep track of who owes whom. It is not a bank, a payment service or a debt-collection service. Settle-up links only open your UPI app; the payment is between you, your UPI app and your bank, and we never see or handle the money. We don't check, guarantee or enforce any amount that anyone enters, and balances are simply calculated from what members record. Settle disagreements with the people involved.
Your content
- You own what you enter (groups, expenses, names and so on). You give us permission to store it, process it and show it to the members of the groups it belongs to, as needed to run the app.
- Groups are shared records. Other members can see your entries, and expenses and settlements you were part of stay in a group after you leave or delete your account, so everyone's balances stay correct (details in the Privacy policy).
- Only add other people, and their name or phone number, if they are fine with it. If someone asks us to remove their details, we will, unless doing so would break other members' records.
Acceptable use
Don't use SplitPe to break the law, to harass, defraud or impersonate anyone, or to deceive anyone with information you know is false. Don't upload content that belongs to someone else, is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, invasive of privacy, harmful to children, threatens India's unity, security or public order, or contains malware or code meant to disrupt the service. Don't scrape or overload the service, or try to get into other people's accounts or data or to bypass the app's security. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Free service, no warranty
SplitPe is free and is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise it will always be available, error-free or that features won't change. We may change or stop the service; where we can, we'll give notice first. Please keep your own record of any large amounts.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of SplitPe, including lost money, lost data or disputes between users. SplitPe is free and provided as is. You agree to cover losses we suffer because you broke these terms or the law. Nothing here excludes liability that the law does not allow to be excluded.
Ending your use
You can stop using SplitPe and delete your account at any time (Account → Delete account). The app asks you to settle up your balances first; if you can't, email us and we will delete your account anyway, and any balance stays in the group under your old display name. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the law.
Other services
SplitPe works with Google, Apple, UPI apps and the app stores, which have their own terms and privacy policies. These terms are between you and us only. Apple, Google and the app stores are not responsible for SplitPe, its support or any claims about it.
Governing law and disputes
Indian law governs these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using SplitPe after a change, you accept the new terms.
